Brad and I were hiking near the tower located on 40 Acre Lake in Brazos Bend State Park (near Needville, TX) during the morning of April 1, 2011, when we photographed this Yellow-crowned Night-Heron. The morning started out with heavy fog and temperatures in the low 70's. The weather cleared as the morning progressed, and temperatures rose into the mid-80's.
